Dr Ng is trained in sleep medicine, and the field of dental sleep medicine.  Dental sleep medicine is a highly specialised area of dentistry that involves the screening and treatment of patients with sleep breathing disorders, ranging from benign snoring to obstructive sleep apnoea and UARS. Dr Ng treats patients with sleep breathing disorders, who are prescribed oral appliances to open up the airway during sleep.  She works closely with ENT surgeons, respiratory medicine specialists, and sleep neurologists as part of a multidisciplinary team.  Dr Ng also collaborates with psychologists, speech pathologists, airway-focused orthodontists and oral surgeons for complete management of patients with sleep and sleep-breathing disorders, oral-facial growth discrepancies, as well as functional speech and swallowing issues.

Having established a highly accurate and comprehensive sleep breathing disorder screening program in 2008, Dr Ng has since helped countless patients with early detection of sleep, sleep breathing and their related health disorders.  She has devoted her practice to the screening and treatment of sleep and sleep-breathing disorders, and is a strong advocate in raising awareness amongst the healthcare community and the general public.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  Jn 14:27

The Koru

The Māori word “koru” captures the essence of an unfurling fern frond of the ponga plant, a powerful metaphor for growth and rejuvenation.

Dr. Elaine Ng, with her roots in New Zealand, resonates with this term’s cultural significance.

The circular shape of the koru reflects perpetual movement, while the inward coil suggests returning to one’s origin.

This intricate balance mirrors life’s ever-changing yet constant nature, symbolizing the individual journey we all navigate.

For Dr. Ng, the koru aptly illustrates life’s path while staying true to oneself.

"My philosophy since day one, is to treat every patient equally, and as if it were myself on the dental chair.  To listen to others as you would want to be heard.  You do not know how long or hard the journey has been for someone else.  Each patient is special, they each have their own unique past experiences, and each health care provider whom they have come in contact with, has shaped their health and their future - for better or for worse.  I feel my job is to not only treat their bodies with respect and care, but also to acknowledge their long carried fears and help them to find workable solutions to their problems."   Elaine Ng
